Not saying this was right...

but I understand the frustration...
Some gentleman crashed his plane into the IRS offices in Austin, Tx  yesterday.
What a tragic and terrible event this was..
The man in question had some tax issues..from what I understand the IRS had put a suspension on both of his businesses.
With my current IRS situation.. I can somewhat understand his aggrivation. However, this is a tad extreme.
My heart goes out ot all of those who were involved in the events on yesterday.
I pray that all the families involved find some peace and understanding through this time of difficulty.
If you are being audited ... please just fill out the paperwork.
Have a blessed weekend .

  1. So starnge you posted about this right before this mad man did his deed. I think you are definitely the brighter of the two. Blogging versus killing some innocent people. Yeah, you win!

  2. Don't you wish the IRS understood what so many people go through with "them". Their demands, the hoops you have to jump through, threats, liens and more. NO, this was not the correct way at all to resolve his issues with the IRS, but one would hope that maybe the IRS could take a step back and look at some of their practices so this would never, ever happen again in our future.

  3. I saw this on Cnn.com yesterday... so sad!! I read the man's letter, and I couldn't help feeling sorry for him- and now especially his new wife...I don't know too much about taxes, so I don't really have an opinion there, but it's just sad he was so desperate in the end. I'll pray along with you that everyone involved comes out of this situation ok...

  7. WOW, I GUESS A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE WATCH WHAT HAPPEN AND HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT. I DISCUSSED IT WITH MY MOM AND LATER WITH MY HUSBAND. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WALKING AROUND AS A TIME BOMB ABOUT TO BLOW. THEY ARE SICK AND ANYTHING MAY CAUSE A BLOW. SO SAD FOR EVERYBODY. I HAVE NOT BEEN AUDIT BUT IS ALWAYS A SCARY POSSIBILITY. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE DOING THINGS BY THE BOOK THE THOUGHT OF IT FREAKS YOU OUT. THEY SHOULD HAVE SENT THE SAME IRS PEOPLE TO AUDIT WALL STREET AND ENRON. BLESSINGS, MARTA.

  8. Well, he definitely was crazy and obviously not able to handle his situation---so sad that he had to take the innocence with him. I must say though, my father, having been an IRS field marshall (when you saw my dad, people would have been warned for years, but when he came to you...he was either going to arrest you or take your possessions.) So, having a father who worked for years both in the Air Force as a retired Colonel and then for the IRS....these men and women have a pretty tough job, so I have seen both sides of this "coin".

Don't forget to drop by the Yaya for my HUGE VINTAGE give a way this week! (by the way, stay warm with that snow headed your way tonight!) xo...deb

  9. Misty, I think I am more afraid of the IRS than the Devil--I wonder if they are one in the same. We figured out all the taxes we pay after we pay taxes on salaries and by mathematics, we should owe the government. I always wondered where my money went, now I know.
I agree with Marta, go after the rich and the government and audit them---betcha we could find billions owed in Taxes, but they have all the loopholes fixed just for them. Oh well as they say, there are only 2 things we are forced to do--pay taxes and die. {{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} Pat

  10. How fitting I should find your blog this morning. I'm having our taxes done this afternoon. They better hound us now cause the letters IRS won't even be mentioned in heaven.
